BSB42618 Certificate IV In
New Small Business
Plan. Design. Build. Live the Dream.
Our BSB42618 Certificate IV in New Small Business helps women start and grow a lash & brow salon.
After hundreds of hours mentoring existing and successful lash and brow artists from around Australia and overseas, we realised many of the problems they faced were due to a lack of ‘business’ in their businesses.
Some had kind of fallen into business, done some training and started getting clients, without really thinking about their business setup or the kind of clients they really wanted to have.
For others, what started as their ‘side hustle’ exploded into something much bigger than they anticipated.
A few were feeling absolutely suffocated and overwhelmed by all of the business ‘stuff’. They knew they needed to do something, but had no idea where to start.
So we developed course content on the most common areas where knowledge was missing or mistakes were being made: business setup and the legal stuff, branding, social media, pricing, finance and attracting and retaining clients.
We include the BEST of everything we’ve learned in our 25+ years as specialists in our fields, aligned to formal qualifications.
This means you can become a qualified lash & brow artist with a nationally recognised BUSINESS qualification!
This is a BESPOKE business course focusing on Lash and Brow Artistry specialisation. Our course is uniquely designed to deliver the skills and knowledge you need at the right time; without having to make common mistakes along the way!

BSB42618 Certificate IV in New Small Business Course Assessments
As part of your training course, you need to submit assessments in order to demonstrate competency in the course you are training for.
You will be assessed for each unit of competency using a variety of tasks, questions, case studies, practical activities and scenarios to assess your skills, knowledge and understanding of the course content. The number of assessment activities varies per course. For technical skills courses, assessments include forms and photographs of your work.
The fastest and simplest way to submit your assessments is electronically. We choose to use Dropbox for this function, as you can download a Dropbox App on your phone, meaning you can take photographs of your case study clients and forms and upload them straight to us – all on your phone. You can also access Dropbox on a computer or other device using a web browser.
When you enroll in a training course with us, we create a training record folder in your name. This folder contains sub-folders for all Case Studies and Assessments required for your individual course.
Your Trainer will send an Invitation to share your folder with us via Dropbox. This allows you to upload your forms and photographs directly to your training record. Your Trainer can then provide feedback to you on your uploaded assessments via Comment in Dropbox, keeping all records of your training in one convenient place.
The benefits to you are:
- You can see at a glance what assessments are required
- Easily check your records to make sure you have submitted everything
- Review Trainer comments on your assessments in one location
- No need to scan documents before uploading.
Assessments will be returned within 7 days of submission.

We take you through everything step by step so you won’t feel overwhelmed. But if you’re a fast learner and highly organised, there’s no reason you can’t get through at an accelerated pace – although certification will take a bit longer as you build your business plan, get your case studies and knowledge questions together and submit for assessment!
How long you take may depend on:
- For online delivery, whether your salon environment is already established and meets the requirements for independent study. We provide you with details on what you need in our Student Information Handbook when you enrol with us. If you need time to set up first, we can provide tips during your face to face training on the type of equipment you need and where to find it.
- For academy delivery, when you book your technical skills courses from the available dates. If you choose to complete your case studies in Student Clinics at the Academy, completion will depend on how quickly you move through your assessments and achieve competency.
- Your personal circumstances. If you have existing commitments, or an illness or disability that means you need to complete your assessments over a longer period, just let us know in advance so we can adjust your program.
